Katherine Mansfield House and Garden is a writer's museum located in the early childhood home of the prominent New Zealand author, Katherine Mansfield.
After correctly discovering a family connection to Katherine Mansfield (through a branch of the Beauchamp family), KMHG asked if I'd be interested in crafting a small run of tulip cups, possibly featuring a quote, for their gift shop. It was a fitting opportunity to revisit some of Mansfield's short stories in search of something suitably poetic, witty, and/or humorous.
The outcome is a tulip cup with the line 'Was it fancy?' stamped in ceramic stain at the base—a quote from the last paragraph of Katherine Mansfield's short story, Poison.
